FAQ — answers to your questions

Everything you want to know about air conditioning, refrigeration, heat pumps and service. If you can't find an answer — call or write to us.

General Questions

We serve Wrocław and the surrounding area within approximately 70 km — including Oleśnica, Oława, Sobótka, Środa Śląska, Strzelin and Trzebnica. For larger projects (e.g. complete commercial refrigeration installations), we operate across the entire Lower Silesia region.

We aim to respond to quote requests within 4 hours on business days. After an initial phone or email conversation, we arrange a site visit if needed and prepare a detailed quote. The free quote covers equipment selection, installation design and a full cost breakdown.

Yes, we issue VAT invoices for both businesses and private individuals. We accept cash, bank transfer and BLIK payments, and also offer leasing financing for business customers.

We hold the F-GAS certificate (authorisation to handle refrigerants), which is required for the installation and servicing of air conditioning units and refrigeration equipment. Our technicians are trained by leading manufacturers including Daikin, Mitsubishi and Samsung, and have extensive hands-on experience.

MH Chłodnictwo has been operating for over 15 years. During this time we have completed hundreds of installations — from domestic air conditioners to commercial catering refrigeration and comprehensive ventilation systems and heat pumps for industrial premises.

Air Conditioning

The cost depends on the type and capacity of the unit, the length of the refrigerant pipe run and the specifics of the building. As a rough guide, installing a split unit in a single room or office costs from approximately PLN 2,500 to 6,000 gross (unit + labour + materials).

For houses or multi-room offices, multi-split or VRF systems are used — these require a site visit for accurate pricing. Contact us for a free quote.

We recommend an annual service — ideally in spring, before the summer season. For intensive use (e.g. offices, restaurants), a service twice a year is advisable.

Air filters should be cleaned by the user every 4–6 weeks. Regular servicing extends the unit's lifespan and keeps it running at peak energy efficiency.

Yes, air conditioning can be installed in an apartment block. The outdoor unit is typically mounted on the building's facade or balcony — this usually requires the approval of the building manager or housing cooperative. We can assist with the documentation for such an application.

The installation does not affect the building structure — refrigerant pipes pass through a single drilled opening (approx. 6–7 cm in diameter) in the external wall.

The right unit depends on room size, ceiling height, sun exposure, number of occupants and intended use. As a rule of thumb: a 20–25 m² room needs about 2.5 kW of cooling capacity; a 40–50 m² office needs approximately 3.5–5 kW.

We recommend inverter-technology units rated A++ or higher — they are quieter, more economical and provide better temperature control. We will advise on specific models once we understand your requirements.

Installing a single split unit (one room) typically takes 3–5 hours. A multi-split system for 3–4 rooms takes one working day. Larger VRF systems or full building installations may require several days.

Commercial Refrigeration

We install and service the full range of refrigeration equipment for catering, retail and the food industry:

  • Walk-in cold rooms and freezer rooms
  • Refrigerated display counters and showcases
  • Upright refrigerators and freezers
  • Ice makers
  • Condensing units and remote refrigeration systems
  • Chillers and central cooling systems

We understand that a refrigeration breakdown in a catering establishment is a crisis — time works against your stock and your business. For faults reported before 4 pm on working days, we aim to visit on the same day.

Customers with an active maintenance plan have guaranteed priority and receive a faster response to breakdowns.

Yes, we carry out regular technical inspections of all types of refrigeration equipment. An inspection is required to maintain the manufacturer's warranty and to comply with sanitary authority requirements for catering premises. We offer service contracts with agreed inspection schedules.

A standard inspection includes:

  • Refrigerant circuit leak check
  • Condenser and evaporator cleaning
  • Electrical parameter check (current, voltage)
  • Compressor and control component inspection
  • Thermostat check and calibration
  • Gasket and mechanical component inspection
  • Service log entry

Heat Pumps

It depends on the building's insulation standard and the type of heating system. An air-to-water heat pump works most efficiently with underfloor heating or low-temperature radiators (up to 45°C). In buildings with radiators requiring higher temperatures, upgrading the heating system may be necessary.

We carry out a free technical assessment before every installation to evaluate feasibility and select the right type of pump.

The main government subsidy programmes in Poland are:

  • Czyste Powietrze (Clean Air) — for existing buildings
  • Moje Ciepło (My Heat) — for new energy-efficient buildings
  • Thermal modernisation tax relief — part of the costs deducted from tax

Amounts and conditions change — before applying, we check the current rules for your building. We assist with preparing subsidy application documentation and select equipment that qualifies for the programmes.

An air-to-water heat pump has a COP (coefficient of performance) of 3–4, meaning it produces 3–4 kWh of heat energy for every 1 kWh of electricity consumed. For a 120 m² house, annual electricity consumption is typically 3,000–5,000 kWh, compared to approximately 15,000–20,000 kWh for direct electric heating.

When replacing a gas boiler and taking advantage of the Czyste Powietrze subsidy, the payback period is typically 7–12 years. Without a subsidy, it is approximately 10–15 years. When replacing direct electric heating, the payback period is significantly shorter — even 5–7 years.

We prepare an individual return-on-investment calculation for every project.

Service & Repairs

For faults reported during working hours (Mon–Fri 8 am–6 pm, Sat 9 am–3 pm), we aim to visit on the same day. For reports received in the evening or at weekends, we arrange the earliest possible appointment.

Customers with an active maintenance plan have guaranteed priority and receive a faster response.

First, check:

  • Whether the air filters are clean (a blocked filter can cause poor performance)
  • Whether the outdoor unit is unobstructed and the fan is running
  • Whether the unit is set to cooling mode (not fan-only or heating)
  • Whether an error code is displayed on the control panel

If the unit still isn't cooling — call us. The most common causes are low refrigerant (a leak) or a compressor fault, both of which require a trained engineer.

A service visit (diagnostics + call-out) starts from PLN 180 net. The cost of any repair depends on the nature of the fault and the parts required. We always advise you of costs before commencing work — no hidden charges.

Customers with a maintenance plan have service visits included in their package — they pay only for materials and spare parts.

Yes, we service and repair equipment of all major brands regardless of who installed it. We work with Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Samsung, LG, Fujitsu, Toshiba, Gree, Midea and others.

Maintenance Plans

A maintenance plan covers scheduled technical inspections, priority breakdown response, service visits with no additional call-out or labour charges, and discounts on spare parts. The precise scope depends on the chosen package (Standard, Gastro or Premium).

Full details of each package are available on our maintenance plans page.

Our maintenance plans are primarily aimed at businesses with refrigeration or air conditioning equipment where reliability is critical to operations — restaurants, food retailers, hotels, offices and warehouses. We also offer plans for homeowners with multiple units.

Use our maintenance plan calculator — select your equipment types, quantities and usage intensity, and it will calculate an estimated monthly fee. A final quote is always agreed individually after speaking with one of our engineers.

Maintenance plans are typically contracted for 12 months with the option to renew. Cancellation is possible with 30 days' notice after the first year has elapsed. Full terms are set out in the individual service agreement concluded with each customer.
